Yes,you now have a variety of AI competitors you can load.

Launch OpenTTD, then use the 'Check Online Content', it will load and look a bit like this: http://imghst.co/5/gahy.png

Choose an AI you want to play with, click on it then on the right it will give details of what that does, sometimes the name gives it away. You can download more than one, and have more than one AI playing a time.
After downloading, exit the content manager and click on AI/Game Script settings in the main menu. You can setup how many AI players to have here, and what AIs they will use. Further AI config can be done from 'Settings' and going to 'Competitors' at the bottom of this list. Change the top category to 'Advanced' or 'Expert', it will unlock more settings in this category (and more)

It's a bit more fiddly than it really should be for playing with AI, I know.

You don't need to select which AIs to play against and configure them in detail. All needed is to download some, and make sure the AI count in AI/Game script settings is > 0. The default is then that the first AI start a year after you and the next a year after that and so on.

If you want to fine tune AIs, then of course look at the settings each of them provide.
