It's a second game in this thread, as I abandoned the first one due to error in the save file...
The First Post of the new company is HERE.

That's the game I've started couple days ago. The idea is to connect most cities with passenger services first, and after that is done add cargo network to it. The game is based on Spring 2013 Patch Pack v. 2.2.192 (newest at the time of writing this post). I love all the fancy additions for the game, e.g. departure boards, hours instead of days, signals on bridges/tunnels, adjustable amount of passengers and mail generated by citites.

The list of NewGRFs I'm using is attached to the second post.
The game started in 1970. I will be playing without cheats, so the company has to be bringing profits. Also the costs of some actions have been changed to be a little more realistic (e.g. bridges, tunnels, depots). No inflation though nor infrastructure costs (I think they make the game imbalanced, especially with different types of tracks - NuTracks).
To achieve my target I'll be creating lines (named train groups) with (neatly) planned timetables, that will connect cities, ultimately creating a nicely functioning network. The name of each line is marked on the map with the sign. I decided to use the following names with their maximum speeds for the different purposes:
M/S - Metro, local train <120km/h, <3 tiles length, high capacity,
R - Regio train <160km/h, <3 tiles length, medium capacity, stopping on every station,
RX - Regio Express <160km/h, <4 tiles length, medium capacity, stopping on bigger stations, might be using same route as R line - stations will require a through track,
IC - InterCity <230km/h, <5 tiles length, low capacity, directly connecting medium and big cities - will require network separate from R/RX trains,
EX - Express <360km/h, <6 tiles length, low capacity, directly connecting big and more distant cities ,
M - Maglev <600km/h, <7 tiles length, low capacity, for long, high demand routes.
These are my guidelines, however I'm not going to stick to them in 100% (especially in length of the trains) if the situation will require different solution.
In the attachments you can find the latest save that I will try to keep up to date.
Finally, I want to create a map that will have the best solutions so all the new ideas, tips, questions and comments are more than welcome!
