A few questions?

Post by Derigar »

Hello, I just registered and am flaring to play TTD! I just had a few questions...
I'm very confused on downloading it. Do I need to download 3 different files?
ALso does it work on Windows 8?

Thanks!

Download the game installer (for either 32 or 64-bit depending on your OS version) from here - recent versions can automatically download the OpenGFX baseset, music/sound sets can be downloaded through the ingame content system.

There haven't been many reported issues with Windows 8 (it's pretty much backwards-compatible with Vista and 7) - IIRC there were some problems with fullscreen in some cases, and OTTD support for touchscreens is quite poor if you have one of those.

Regarding Windows 8 I can only speak for myself but it seems to work just fine. Haven't tried fullscreen though I always run OpenTTD in windowed mode.

I have full screen working in Windows 8 with the latest nightlies for some time now, but I also tried an evaluation version (originally for businesses) and there it was not full screen for some reason, as there were some black parts next to it. Other than that it is running fine.

that is usually a display/graphics driver setting (stretch smaller resolutions to full display size) and has absolutely nothing to do with OpenTTD.
