British Railways History - Timeline

Post by Leanden »

Ive compiled a timeline of companies within the British Rail Network, it isnt complete yet, but it includes all Companies from pre-grouping to present.

Download can be found at www.simuscape.net under the off-topic section.

Its taken me a fair amount of time, so please tell me what you think :)

I will not be uploading the latest version here due to new rules on attachments which deem they are the property of orudge.

Impressive stuff! :D

It's interesting to look at how things have changed like that. Up till 1995, everything is more or less smooth and organised. Then with the privatisation era, it goes completely bonkers and all over the place. Not a criticism at all. Quite the opposite. I like the way that is shown :P

My only request would be to have notes on the left side to say what line is what. Such as "Scotland, Central England, South England, Wales, South West" or However it works.
i can see that's pretty much how it is organised but it's a bit puzzling trying to work that out when skimming through :P Not sure how simple it is to do such. But it would be interesting to see what companies stemmed from the LNER lines for example :D

Again though, impressive stuff! Thanks for sharing.

Technically the sequence was GB Railfreight - First GBRf - GB Railfreight (Europorte) but that's by the by ;)
