buliding INTERCITY rail

Post by Wooteman »

Hello all :) i was just wondering if someone can tell about creating a good high speed rail or (Intercity rail) . i am thinking to have express trains but also many use the line for deliving gods to the citys aswell. but also to get a good picture off how to make some good junctions :D . the train length i am thinking off is 8 - 12. one thing that i have a bit problem is building a good end stasjon , crus the trains need to turn . insted off making a exit back to the main line.

i have looked at some onlines games and also check up the forumes, but never achelly join the forum. i have played this game for over 2 years and i love!. i am not so noobish , i have got some tricks ;) . i rembemer this game from when a looked at my cosuin playing it, good times!

anyways , have good day! :D

I wouldn't mix slow traffic and express traffic. Even if you build side tracks for faster trains to overtake slower trains, you will still end up with a lot of slowing downs and waiting at signals, especially on main lines where you have a lot of trains.

I build separate lines for slower trains and express trains. I use waypoints to separate the different trains on the respective tracks after leaving a station. This way the trains only mix in stations.

Well, first thing you need to think about is capacity (i.e. how many trains are you hopefully going to run on it). What I would suggest is building at least a 2 up and 2 down cofiguration to use as the slow and fast lines respectively. The slow lines (ideally your outer lines) should be used by your local and freight services while your fast lines (ideally your inner lines) are for your intercity services. If you wish to have stations on your fast lines, put the platforms in passing loops so that those booked to stop won't interfear with your non-stop services. Also depends on how much build space you have which may limit this type of construction. You may also want to look at real life main/intercity/high-speed lines which may give you some inspiration for your network and implement and modify if needed.

Let's hope this helps. :)
