Derailment of Via train in Ontario

Tragic news unfolding. At least 3 VIA rail employess dead.

Any Idea how quick It was going at the time? I feel sorry for all the people who have lost a Family member in this Tragic incident.

I can't speak to the actual facts, but I have ridden that train before multiple times. It is capable of at least 110km (it is nice to be passing all of the cars on the parallel highway). Based on the location however I suspect between 40-60 km.

Looks pretty Bad, but I've seen worse with less deaths for example Grayrigg, UK, Pendolino comes off track and falls down Embankment Killing 1 Elderley Women (She had a Heart Attack). The train was doing anywhere between 90-100 mph at the time. How strong are them Carriages supposed to be?
