Error opening saved game with dos TTDPatch

I have Transport Tycoon deluxe for dos and TTDPatch.My OS is Windows 98. I am playing a game which i created in Transport Tycoon Deluxe. Now it is the year 2005 and i want to replace my tracks with monorail. So I tried to open the saved game in ttdpatch but it does not open. It just hangs up (and the annoyin 'zzzz' sign is there). I have no idea why this happens. Also when i try opening an older gane (1960 or so) in TTD Patch it opens properly. Can someone please help me?
