Well, it was good to see it in action without freezing one's nads off on the Northumberland coast. Not sure was quite as reminiscent of the Deltic's Get Carter heyday as they were making out!

maybe I'm weird, or cynical (or both) but doesn't it smell a little more like a publicity sort of stunt? I mean sure they're using it to move freight, they're short of locos, etc, but they knew that all of a sudden, 1000s of sweaty men with big digital cameras would surround it in so much foam it could hardly move.

except they didn't get in the way of the train (except the idiot standing very close to the opposite track late on).
The appearance of people to take photos was of very little interest to GBRf, doesn't gain them money and doesn't impact on the operation.

Interestingly enough, the graphic is based on a 4-axle EMD GP30, which at 2250 HP had nearly an identical power-per-axle ratio, and is no spring chicken itself, having been introduced in the US in 1961. If it's any solace to those of you on the other side of the pond, our news types can't get their act together on railway graphics either.
