question about long distance haulage

General talk about Transport Tycoon that isn't specific to TTD, TTDPatch or OpenTTD.

question about long distance haulage

Post by ironic_lettuce »

Hi

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me why trains that go a longer distance make more money in each trip? I thought that the longer a train took to deliver stuff, the less you got?

I have two trains that deliver goods, one to a nearby station, and the other to the other side of the map. The train that goes a short distance makes about 6k a time and the other train makes 80k every time it stops at the unloading station!

I'm just asking this out of curiosity by the way :)

Thanks in advance

The greater the distance between pick up and delivery the more money you get. Of course speed is also important, the faster you are the more money you will earn. Just like real life. Sounds logical, or not?

yeah it does :)

thanks

wondering if you could answer another question I have? When the end of year accounts came up on the screen one year I noticed that I had spent about £1,000,000 on new vehicles, but I hadnt bought a thing in two years!

Does the game automatically buy new engines or something?

It rebuys vehicles so that you have less breakdown and stuff like that, each vehicle has a certain amout of usable years so it just buys more vehicles!

That's only when you have the autoreplacement switches on in TTDPatch. I don't use those, exept if Josef would make it customisable so that you can set wich vehicle types it affects.
