Mega Stations

Post by Guia »

I would like to share something insane which I do in multiplayer games when I'm serious bored or rich.

Two Wood Mega Depots, each with their own loop to feed the sawmill, which produces other 16,000 crates of goods a month.

Closer view of one of the Mega Depots. Each 42 Long, dual engine freight train takes 9 seconds to load, then leaves

Another closer look at the one of the forestrys. At the botton of the screenshot, a out-of-loop depot track so trains don't block the rest of the loop when entering/exiting the depot.

The City feeder from the sawmill. 6 Lanes are constantly busy, while the 7th lane is there to handle any overflowing traffic in the loop.

An much older setup, from the 1980s.

A messy setup, two mega stations, and two loops to offload the goods to cities.

If someone wants the network save game of this, let me know.

ps: I hate trees!

I wouldn't call those.. mega... Have a look at the openttdcoop maps .. they master the science of creating extremely complex (but functional) systems

I am unimpressed. So you made your station long. Well done. It took me a whole 2 seconds to do the same.

Make them complex, interesting. Use the different tile sets to create themes and eye candy. Make us go "wow" or "look at that" not just "Here's some long stations on dull maps."

I don't know about the rest of you But do what works best for you.

I like the idea I always just have the same old station size 7 long. I have to give this a go.

If it does the job go with it forget Making them complex, interesting.

I'll like my trains to load faster too.

Sorry if I seem blunt, but doesn't building like that get a little dull?...

Not as much as you think it would.

I like to build a less a 4 track station when I build one that way I have tracks ready for latest use.

have gone over the post I have to say I still like to keep it simple but I will be try out some new stuff on my next game round as I'm not far off end this one.

I'll be try to install it in Windows 7 RC so I be a good time to test as I'm going to be test windows any so lot of fun there.

"edit to fix up my bad spelling just put a spell check in IE now so I hope I will not need to do it again."

if your joining two stations together by an unused platform you can use the remove button to get rid of it (the one that looks like a bulldozer) and it looks better
