Rail to Road Transfer

Post by pschorf »

I've got a small rail line which runs from some oil derricks near several towns to an oil refinery. Currently, I have the train only carry oil to the refinery and nothing back, and trucks drive to the refinery, pick up goods, and take them to towns. I'd like to have the train carry 2 or 3 cargo wagons and pick up from the refinery, and then have the trucks pick up the goods from the train station near the oil derricks. I've tried many combinations of orders, but I can't seem to get the train to deposit its goods at the oil derricks without either picking nothing up, or filling up with oil and then reloading all of the goods it delivered. I tried using cargodest as well, but I can't seem to get that to work either.

Any ideas?

This can only work using either
1) cargodest (don't setting any special unload/transfer orders at all in this case)
2) using two stations for the train, 1 to unload the goods without loading anything and a second one to load the oil.

I have cargodest on now, and (I think) a pretty simple route system: the train has only two orders, go non-stop to oil derricks and go nonstop to the refinery. The truck has non-stop orders between the truck depot attached to the train station and the delivery depot. Even if I go into the console and type 'rn lc' I get a "no cargo has routes" reply. None of the vehicles have transfer orders, etc.

You must explicitely turn on cargo destination for non-passengers in the options in order for them to have a special destination.

You mentioned you set the orders for the trucks to go non stop from depot to station. The depot may be adjacent to a station, but it always counts as a separate entity. You have to send the trucks to that station as well.

Sorry for the late reply. I still can't get any of the cargo transferred properly. I noticed that all of the cargo is listed as having an unknown destination. Could this be the problem?
