Anyway, I hopefully won't get too bored with all the excellent GRF's out there lately. In the past I would generally try to build up large industrial networks but I don't tend to enjoy that for too long. So after reading a few other threads I decided to give some passenger and mail networks a shot. Maybe I'll find a place to sneak in some freight eventually but not for now. The map was large and started with no industries on it. It had modified building costs and started up in 1890 with NARS2 trains.
My goal was to see how many different rail networks I could set up but I always had to keep everything connected by some form of transit in order to keep things going. I couldn't just hop to the other side of the map and build. I've not really named my various routes.
The early days started with point to point lines from the Terminus station at Farberg Market with a single line heading out in two different directions. One to Rondtown and one to Farberg Market. For a while there was a loop set up from Windchurch - Lewisstable Park - St. Trabourne - Renbridge and back to Windchurch but that has recently been changed as service is planned to head off on a new line from Renbridge to cities to the east.
I really do use main lines far too often. I think it is a side effect of my days dealing with a lot of industry. I do like setting up some basic timetables for my trains by telling them to stay at stations for a set amount of time before moving on. This is great for keeping trains from bunching if your line is full of signals which lets the trains advance easily.
I'll just post a quick screenshot of an overview and the route diagram I made using the train route diagram stuff from wikipedia.
Look out for that horrible randomly generated name that appears on the top left of the route diagram.

The light pink lines are inactive sections of rail. I also think St. Marshall has 4 different rail lines coming from it but I was too lazy to split the last one off of there.

There is also a brand new line that isn't even on the map yet. I guess that one will have to wait for a new update...
Unfortunately I didn't keep all that much documentation around from the early days since I had no idea I would actually keep going with this one. I had a few false starts before this one got going.
I also decided to start my own screenshot thread in order to encourage me to keep going with the game and to give myself a reason to better document some of my other games that I may start in the future.
