Post by duckeggpie »

Hi,
I'm new at using Linux (only have it because it came on my netbook)
I would like to install Open TTD on my netbook but don't know which version to download.
I have and Asus eee PC 4gb (one of the original ones) with the version of linux that comes as standard (no idea which version it is)
If anyone can help I would be very greatful!!!
Thanks :D :D

If in doubt, I do believe the OpenTTD download page for both stable and nightly builds attempts to guess which version you should download, so I would go to the OpenTTD site and try what the download page picks for you.

Getting the generic i686 32 bit binary should be safe, and whatever came on the EeePC should be able to handle any of the 3 archive types, gz and bz2 are probably slightly safer, but I can't imagine that whatever is on the EeePC doesn't have unzip.

It is XandrOS. The first point under "Features" says, that XandrOS is Debian based.

The .deb package installs just fine on an Eee PC.
He's like, some kind of OpenTTD developer.

Well if it's debian based, I would get the generic .deb binary. You should ignore my other post.
