Train not Gaining any profit.

Post by The Superbird »

Hi guys,
ive just got the newest version of open ttd. ive played other versions but am to be quite honest a n00b. i created a scenario with a quary and some clay pits and then further down the way a brickworks. i linked the two and had a freight train going between the two stations, it would pick up it's cargo just fine and drop it off the other end just fine. however it would not make any profit it just went further and further into debt. could anyone tell me why this is happening ?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
The Superbird.

Make a savegame, click the "Browse..." button below the reply form, search for the savegame, click "Add the file" and click submit.

savegames should be .sav files, definitely not .exes

A savegame is a .sav file, not an exe file. It could be located in My Documents/OpenTTD/saves/

Give it some time, if there is no answer after 24 hours you can think about posting again, not after 22! minutes.

Having said that, I think you should use full load on one station and make your tracks a bit longer. The route in this savegame is very short for a train route.

do you think that will help ? but the train can't help but fully load, theres thousands of tons of gaff waiting at the station. ah well u know what ur talking about.

I don't have the industry grf you use, so I couldn't see the industries / amount of cargo waiting. So full load probably won't help you much in this case. Longer routes will definitely help though.

First you started/began the scenario, then you added some NewGRFs that add/change cargoes, then you pressed on 'Apply changes'. At that moment you got a big red warning message with a message stating something like: danger, the following procedure can majorly mess up your (save)game/scenario, are you sure you want to do that? You answered that with yes.

So... you won't get paid because you added cargoes after the economy got initialised (the game/scenario started), so the payment for cargoes is 0.

If you would have searched the forum you would have found several other occasions of people not getting paid because of the exact same scenario.

Then don't use newgrfs and you'll have exactly the same trains as in TTD (I assume that is what you call 'old version').
