How can I slow rate of time down? Eg, stays 1935 for a day

Post by ChiggenWingz »

Hey everyone

I'm trying to set up a LAN server for everyone here at work, is there a way I can slow the date rate down? I basically would like a year to last a whole day, but still allow buses, trains and such to run around happily at the normal rate.

The idea is that during moments of boredom, a user can quickly join the server, update his train/bus network, etc and then log off again.

Over a period of days make more money and expand their network.

Is there a way to slow down the date speed?

Is there any problems with users quitting and joining after long periods of time?

Thanks :)

There is a patch, that can adjust the speed of time without affecting trains speeds etc. You can find it in the Development section. I would recommend you to use one of precompiled patch packs like Russian Community patch pack orTib's patch pack. Both are great.

For multiplayer you have to find a server using exactly the same version/patch pack. Btw RusPP doesn't support multiplayer.

FYI. It will be a very, very, very long game if you slow down the passing of time until 1 year = 1 real time day.

100 years = 100 real time days...

Just want to make sure you're aware of how long it'll take for a game to complete.

I believe the point was not for the game to be completed but to be a timewaster for 8 people (or as many as they want if they share companies and are not all online at the same time) at his workplace. At least, that's what I gathered from the OP.

You'll have to check server settings because (iirc) servers have an "autoclean" function where they delete companies that have been inactive for a certain amount of time, or maybe just if they go bankrupt. I'd have thought it could be disabled.

There is. But I think I recall the autoclean feature being disabled by default.
Going bankrupt does call a cleanup, but I don't think the autoclean was activated by default.

Yeah, I was wanting a really long game, where we can dawdle along without the world changing too fast.

I found the options to stop the server auto cleaning a company.

But still no idea how to slow down days

There is a daylength patch in the development section. But that particular thread hasnt been updated for a while. It is included in a few patch packs but these usually dont support multiplayer. Maybe one of the developers of the patch pack can help you.
