32 bpp vechicles

Post by Zhall »

I do suppose i will shut up and stop annoying everyone and put all of my free time to good use.

I searched the wiki for the 32 bpp vechicles and saw that the grain truck set hasnt been taken.. I did some light searching and to no avail did i find that one already existed.

Im using Ben's 3ds max light setup but i am a bit confused... The tile you are given to work upon represents one game tile correct?

Also, i am curious as to how to render my models when i am done... A pointer in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Heres a quick render of my work in progress. I figured i wouldnt pour in abunch of time before i was sure that it hadnt already been done. :? Comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: its eventually going to be based on the first model that comes out, i hope to make them all!

the back part looks good (I assume the front isn't done yet).

Sorry I can't help you on your questions, I know nothing about 3D modelling. But anyway, it's cool to see we'll be having new 32bpp graphics soon!
I am little, ugly, and nasty. How do you do?

Heres an update of the hereford grain truck V 0.2!

The back of the cab is missing/hasnt been done yet. I based this off of a 1935 semi truck http://www.oldengine.org/shows/scrap97/aug31_06.jpg atleast thats what google said it was :P

I checked the wiki and thats when it comes out so it will be in the right time period when it comes out.

The strong point right now are the wheels... i spent like 2 hours perfecting them. Can you see the openttd lettering on them? I didnt think so ;(

O well, things to come are a real cab and doors + a shorter more realistic trailer.

For now im gonna go rest. :O Local time = 1.32 am

Wow... Low profile tyres :) They look really nice. I am just not sure if they fit the vehicle. Perhaps you should keep them for something more modern?

Not only the low profile tyres are to modern, the rims are it too. Maybe the wheels are right for a sports car (truck racing?). ;-)

For the trailer of an 1930-ies truck maybe these pictures are usefull suggestions.

Opel Blitz, next one with plane and another one with higher boards (for bulk freight).

And, for transporting a cow, <trumpet>tata</trumpet>: here is Goliath. ;-)

I think they would fit very well trucks introduced after 2000.

Nice work so far. Perhaps change the tyres to something that doesn't look as modern? Looks a bit race car to me.

The tyres definitely doesn't look like something you would find on a 30's lorry. They more look like the tyres for a modern racing car.

I'm not that happy with the trailer. Firstly the rear bumper is way too thick - judging from the scale of the lorry it looks like it is 15 cm thick or something. The ladder on the side also looks thicker than one would make a ladder in the real world. The rim of the trailer also have some strange edges that doesn't look that good (marked in red).

I think you should redo the trailer from the images posted by Auge.
