A Bus with confidence problems

Post by mav1701 »

Or it need GPS.

I built 2 busses in a road depot to serve a tiny island town. Same orders: Go to bus station next door, then across the bridge to the next town to unload.

Bus 1 worked fine.

Bus 2 never left the depot. I can't sell it, can't order him home or anywhere else. It acts just like they do if your depot isnt connected to a road, but it is... Can't destroy the depot either sinc the truck is just sitting inside of it.

Using 2.6 build 1895

US towns (names?)
NA Roads
Georges Long Vehicles v4
Total town replacement set

(and US Trains, stations, sigz, Industrial station renewal, planeset, newships)

Here is a screenie with the depot made invisible.

Sadly I didnt notice the wayward bus for an hour or so and saved it with the stuck bus. Is there some tool I can use to get rid of it? Not that the $2000 per year running cost is killing me :P

Cht:deleteveh

A current savegame may be useful; the save from just before the bus got stuck would almost certainly be useful.

Configs, of course, are required if the saves are to be useful.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Is it actually stuck, or is it just stopped? I've had a "stuck" vehicle before which was stopped not quite in a depot - clicking the go button fixed it.

Of course i tried that, and the Return to depot button. It can't/won't budge

the cheat worked, though the replacement I bought was crashed into by a ufo. Think i'll stay out of the bus and the truck bus9ness

It happened again, this time with a chinook helocopter landing at a small airport:

Its hard to tell from the pic, but you can see the smoke trail and just the spinning rotorblades if the cht sign is removed;

It appears to be stuck underground. Telling it to go to depot or to a different airfield doesnt work, nor the return arrow.

Also I tried the deleteveh cheat on every square of the airport and that frontage road.. it won't work.. (it did work on the stuck bus earlier)

I was playing fullscreen (mode 5) so the graineiness is due to the game-created PCX screen.

I switched to a window and made a PNG:

No, it's not. PCX, like PNG, is lossless.

But what we really need is a savegame from before the chopper starts the landing cycle (about a month before it starts descending.)

We're in luck this time, the issue is repeatable. Zip file included 3 saves, the cfg files, and reference text.

Okay I made some discoveries:

If I use Cht:deleteveh on the top-right square of the airport (the building with the red roof) it will delete the chopper (it crashed the first time, no log, but worked the second time)

Even after I deleteveh the chopper, that jet that is circling cannot land there. I had to destroy the airport and rebuild.

If I unload Planeset and revert to a normal chopper, it still gets stuck (using trt09.sv1)

After clearing the airport, if I build a new Chinook, it can function normally, and the other chinook in the save does maintenance at a different small airfield without sticking

The issue seems to be the animation, the chinook is trying to land at a 45 degree angle, the same angle it uses to roll off the runway to the tarmac. On a non-bugged landing, it lands inline with the runway. It still lands at a 45 degree angle even after unloading Planeset

So whatever is causing the chinook to land at an angle is causing the issue. Maybe it got dizzy from circling in the pattern? :P
