old ai in multiplayer?

old ai in multiplayer?
hi. i want to play coop with a friend against a few ai companies. unfortunately the new ai only allows them to build trucks and busses. is there a possibility to play a multiplayer session with the old ai that builds everything?
Re: old ai in multiplayer?
your config should include an option
ai_in_multiplayer = false
though bear in mind, this feature is (very) experimental, and i doubt it has been under developmet for the past years, so there could be chances of this being very buggy.
i also cannot remember anybody ever using this setting.

Re: old ai in multiplayer?
if i allow ai in multiplayer and uncheck the new ai box no ai will spawn. that's the problem.
Re: old ai in multiplayer?
pedder: no it cannot. Allowing the AI to play in multiplayer is like allowing normal players to terraform without paying in multiplayer. This due to the fact that the old AI work due to a vast number of hacks to make it even survive more than a month, which would in the hand of a normal person be like playing with all cheats on in MP.
Re: old ai in multiplayer?
will the new ai be able to build tracks and trains in the near future?

Re: old ai in multiplayer?
if you make one...
No, really, AI is quite very weak. The new ais made with NoAI have are better, but they are limited to rvs atm. If you want a good competition, go join some general multiplayer games..

There not limited to rv, the only thing an noai ai can't build is trains/train tracks.LordAzamath wrote:if you make one...

Re: old ai in multiplayer?
so it can build airports? why is there a message that says that it only can build trucks?
Re: old ai in multiplayer?
You have to download the noAI branch to get the new AI. The "new AI" in trunk is just a fraction of what the noAI in the branch is.
Re: old ai in multiplayer?
ah, ok. does someone know a good ai then? this wrightai maybe?
Re: old ai in multiplayer?
Well, AIs are still in development. WrightAI is the one made by the devs. It builds only airports/-planes. GeekToo recently put up a version of his AI, Convoy: http://wiki.openttd.org/index.php/AI:Convoy It only uses busses.
I've also experimented a bit with the AI framework, but didn't leave the state of experimenting yet
So I'm afraid there's no AI available yet that uses all of the available transportation ways. But that could change sooner or later, I think someone is making a pretty sophisticated AI for a challenge, he will probably release it when the challenge is over (don't know when that is..)

Re: old ai in multiplayer?
The TJIP Challenge runns over the summer. Don't remember exactly when it ends but perhaps in the end of august. +/- 30 days and I'm probably safe.
From what I have understood it is only allowed in the challenge to use road vehicles. But someone who actually understands the language they use in the netherlands can read the rules themself.
