TTD graphics question

Post by drew22299 »

Hi,

Can the TTD graphics be used on other websites and applications since the game is open source?

TTD (aka Transport Tycoon Deluxe) is not open source. It is a game released by Microprose ~10 years ago.

OpenTTD has no own graphics (well, except some). To be able to play it, you need the original graphics files of Transport Tycoon (Deluxe).

It is not allowed to redistribute the original graphics of Transport Tycoon Deluxe since they are Copyright Microprose.

You might be allowed to reuse graphics of OpenTTD (those not gotten from the original graphics files), but I don't think that's what you want..

<Lakie> Well, they do the same thing but the code is different.

The vast majority of the OpenTTD graphics are from the original game, they are from the files that you have to copy from a TTD installation when you install it.
