Chiltern Railways

Post by Woodyleonhard »

Categorised as easy, deliver 50,000 passengers using rails only
requires the BR set from amitrains and earthslopes from steves locomotion cache (web names in readme)

The first one requires WinRAR but a .zip is underneath.

Just downloaded this, its just a random generated map with the Chiltern 166s as the only vehicles. Not even any place name changes. Not good I'm affraid.

I'd suggest looking at the Midlands Scenario or the Southern England Scenario to see an idea of what a map should be about.

So no Class 47's with mark two stock, no 31's doing Claydon Binliners? so absolutely nothing based on the Real Chiltern rail with the shared access with LUL?

Hate to tell you this, sadly its not anywhere close to accurate.

People play with accurate maps to replicate accurate routes and enjoy trying to do what the real world can't - make money.

Try doing a map of somewhere new.... like South East UK or the North of England?

Go to your local model shop and invest in a copy of the video by 125 productions for the Claydon Binliner run from Northolt to Calvert, sit down watch it and take notes, your map misses out one of the fundamental sights of the run and that is the brick arch viaduct over the four lanes of the M25 let alone the divergence of the up and down lines north of High Wycombe.
I'm not picking holes for the sake of it, but I think Andel would agree that when you put out a scenario based upon places people know on a daily basis you have to be accurate or flack like this will fly pretty fast and thick!

Surely the best way to design it would be to put Marylebourne in the SE Corner of the map, then run out north westward to High Wycombe, and then turn northward to eventually Birmingham in the NW corner. Then towards the NE of the map put the Aylesbury branch, perhaps ending up at Rugby at the North West, so we have the option to restore the start of the old Great Central mainline if we want. Make all the terrain flat to begin with with the terrain generator, then raise land for the Chiltern Hills where the hills are and put in any relevant rivers.

I don't even know this area that well, but thats how I would approach it. Use a proper map, such as an atlas for guidance.
