Logged out when uploading attachments?

Post by Raichase »

I seem to be logged out when uploading a second attachment to a post I am trying to make in the screenshots section. I'll upload one screenie, then upload the other and it takes me to the log in screen and deletes my post and attachments.

Could you try in a separate browser? Maybe your session is timing out? What if you have auto-login enabled?

I'll try again tonight with IE.

I have auto-login enabled, although my session seems to time out overnight and I have to re log in manually the next day despite having auto login on.

Maybe your ISP is one of those that likes to change IP addresses dramatically without warning? I think phpBB2 at least checks whether the IP address you're currently using matches reasonably well with the IP you were using last time, so maybe it just doesn't match any more?

Sounds like my sh**ty wireless - it causes enough problems, wouldn't surprise me if it caused the one with the session timeout.

I'll try again tomorrow night, I'm exhausted after work today so am turning in early.

phpBB3 does the same, so it's quite possible that this is related to the issue.

Still happens in IE - yet another excuse to kick my crappy wireless rubbish.

Could you try another browser such as Firefox, perhaps?

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my original post - I browse with FireFox normally, and it happens in FF, and also in IE. Are there any other free browsers I could download that might work?

I'm leaving towards it being the fault of my wireless though :(

You could try Apple's Safari perhaps, but if both IE and Firefox are having trouble, then it's quite probably the problem of your connection, indeed.

Thanks for the help all the same orudge. I dunno how to get around this, as it's only happened recently.

I'll give it a couple of weeks and see if it fixes itself - I didn't do anything differently to break it, so perhaps it's a hiccup.

I can't see it being your wireless connection, unless it's a direct connection to the internet (Such as a 3G card), as your IP would remain the same and your cookies would still be there. There's a possibility it could be an anti-virus or anti-spyware program that deletes the cookies every so often for whatever reason. Does this happen to any other phpBB / other software forums?

No, just this one - and I can't think of anything different I've done since the problem started that might cause this :|. I use Norton as my anti-virus, and I also have Zonealarm as my firewall.

Well, nothing has changed on the server or with the phpBB configuration in quite a while, so I can't really see why it'd be a forum problem, I'm afraid.

Hope you manage to get it sorted!
