OS X Fullscreen problems
I am using 0.6.0 on Mac OS X 10.5.2. When I launch and go into the options menu, the resolution selection says 'other' and when I click on the fullscreen button, it says 'Fullscreen mode failed'.
Is anyone else having the same problem?

Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
Either you have a really huge monitor or you encountered a new bug. What is your monitor resolution? And do you have multiple monitors?
Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
I experience that under Windows if I exit the game while windowed. To fix it I have to change the resolution to something other than 1920x1200 which I normally use. I then select fullscreen, and then switch back to 1920x1200. This only, but always, happens when I exit in windowed mode. If I exit while in full screen everything's fine.
Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
If you are using the latest version of OpenTTD. Make sure you have got the latest drivers installed for your screen.

Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
Can anyone please help with this problem, I've checked all the drivers and I can't find any sort of update or anything. Is no one else having this problem?
Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
We can rule out driver issues right away. Apple controls what hardware they have so driver issues like this shouldn't show upcoatsy wrote:Can anyone please help with this problem, I've checked all the drivers and I can't find any sort of update or anything. Is no one else having this problem?
You could try to answer those two questions.Bjarni wrote:Either you have a really huge monitor or you encountered a new bug. What is your monitor resolution? And do you have multiple monitors?
Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
In my experience, OTTD won't be able to fullscreen when your resolution is set to 'other'. Most likely because it's actually a resolution that your video card doesn't support. Select an actual resolution and then select fullscreen and it should work.

Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
Touqen is right.
The full screen failing means that the resolution you have tried is not one that your video card reported to be valid in full screen mode.

If you are not ready to work a bit for your ideas, it means they don't count much for you.

Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
Hey All,
I have the same issue (on my intel macbook pro 15" - res is 1440x900) no multi displays.
Res option cannot be changed.
I can however get it to run full screen at 1440x900 on the same macbook pro when it is in windows mode under bootcamp, so it can do the res!
Any ideas?
Richard

Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
Same here on my MacBook with the internal Display. I can not use fullscreen mode and the resolution combo box doesn't respond.
I had two Kernel Panics lately and I think OTTD might have caused them, though I have no proof. Both times, I had OTTD windowed and the lid closed, maybe I also had OTTD hidden, I am not sure. When I opened the Macbook it instantly gave me the Kernel Panic screen. Since then I can't activate fullscreen mode.
I tried to change the cfg file. I achieved to alter the window resolution, but toggling fullscreen returns to the window with the quoted error message. Deleting the cfg didn't help either. Are there more cfg files? I only found one in my home folder/Documents/OpenTTD.

Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
This sounds pretty bad. I can't say that I heard about this issue and I can't test it either (lack of a mac with a lid to close) so I really don't know what to do about this at this point.winn wrote:I had two Kernel Panics lately and I think OTTD might have caused them, though I have no proof. If you place one next to the game bundle then it will use that one instead. If you didn't manually mess with where it places the config file then it will only make the one you already mentioned. The talk about using the pref directory never resulted in any code.winn wrote:Are there more cfg files? I only found one in my home folder/Documents/OpenTTD.
As for the missing resolutions.... right now I don't know what could be wrong but I will think about it. If anybody has an idea to what could be wrong then you are welcome to tell us. It might even fix the problem

Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
For what its worth, I have noticed that since upgrading to 10.5.3 I can no longer go to full screen.
The value in the Screen Resolution box says "other".
I am unsure whether this also ocurred under 10.5.2, but Im pretty sure it didnt.
So it would appear that perhaps something video related has changed between 10.5.1/10.5.2 and 10.5.3.
I have a MacBook Pro, and an external 24" wide screen operating at 1920x1200. I use the external as my primary and run OpenTTD on this screen. It did work flawlessly before on the external.
edit: Furthermore, OpenTTD 0.5.3 will let me go to 1680x1050. If I click the full screen button the OpenTTD window flashes white once very briefly at a size of 1680x1050, but doesnt show any messages about failing to go to full screen, and remains at a size of 1680x1050. 1680x1050 is the highest resolution I can get. Manually changing the config file to 1920x1200 simply results in OpenTTD starting at a size of 640x480. I can manually set it to 1680x1050 and 0.6.1 will open at 1680x1050 though, so that will have to do me for now.

Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
I am having the same problem, MacBook running 10.5.3 it used to work but I can't be sure whether it was 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 everything works properly
Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
Ive actually just realised that you can manually drag the lower right corner of the window to resize it.monts wrote:I am having the same problem, MacBook running 10.5.3 it used to work but I can't be sure whether it was 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 everything works properly
So you can fill up most of the screen, but its not as elegant as full screen. It should help in the interim though.

I found that out as well, but I'd prefer that I could go back to fullscreen.
Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
I had the same problem on my MBP.
Seem like Apple removes 256 color support with 10.5.3, so selecting one of the 32bit blitters fixed it for me.

I decided to assume this to be the cause and tried to commit a fix for itmfs wrote:I had the same problem on my MBP.

I committed that a moment ago and it will be in the next nightly build (which will start compiling around the time I post this). Now you guys can test if this solves the problem.r13584 wrote:-Fix: [OSX] Fixed issue where 10.5 failed to switch to fullscreen
This is done by selecting the 32bpp-anim blitter by default as it seems Apple removed some 8bpp support
Since this is done at runtime the same binary will still select 8bpp on 10.3 and 10.4
Note: We still have the problems with nightly builds that they fail on Intel 10.5.
Re: OS X Fullscreen problems
Good to hear the issue has been tracked down.
I just downloaded nightly r13584, unable to launch it on my 10.5.3 machine, just does nothing.
Looking forward to a fix.
