Windows XP Help

Post by sebmol »

Hi,

Up until a few days ago, TTD was working wonderfully on my Windows XP system. Since I had to reinstall everythig (for reasons not related to TTD), I can no longer get it to go to full-screen. It also crashes everytime it loads and, from what it looks, it's not loading the electric railways graphics.

For the past two days, I've been fiddling with Windows, TTD and TDDpatch settings to no avail. It either runs without electric railways or it crashes. Changing compatibility modes (Win95/98/NT, etc.) has no effect.

I'm using TTDPatch 1.9.1 alpha 47 and Windows XP SP1 with DirectX 9

A few details about my setup. In the newgrf folder, I have
03/23/2003 07:20 PM 91,393 bulkfrgw.grf
01/27/2003 09:56 PM 6,162 carcarrw.grf
03/23/2003 07:20 PM 77,043 contshpw.grf
05/25/2003 08:12 PM 7,635 elrailsw.grf
03/23/2003 07:21 PM 18,984 gcvw.grf
03/23/2003 07:21 PM 28,129 lngtankw.grf
03/23/2003 07:21 PM 11,647 lstockcw.grf
05/16/2003 12:52 AM 204 newships.txt
03/23/2003 07:21 PM 28,087 oiltankw.grf
03/23/2003 07:21 PM 6,478 passlnw.grf
01/26/2003 10:43 PM 168,645 pcgoodcw.grf
03/23/2003 07:21 PM 30,282 reeferw.grf
03/28/2003 12:01 AM 22,811 signalsw.grf
04/26/2003 07:28 PM 38,966 tempsetpw.grf
04/26/2003 07:35 PM 39,100 tempsetw.grf

My newgrfw.txt states:

newgrf/elrailsw.grf
newgrf/signalsw.grf

I would really appreciate any help with this.

Thanks,

sebastian

Make sure you set a Full screen mode in the Fish configuration utility. Make sure you have enabled the Windows 2000/XP Compatibility switch with TTDXC Configurator.

Hi, Can you set 'verbose on' in your ttdpatch.cfg file and run it again, then take a printscreen of that full dos screen and attach it here
We also need your ttdpatch.cfg file and newgrfw.txt files !

I have the same setup like you but no crashes, I would just like to start a game with your files !!!

And for the fullscreen, first do what Andrex suggested
Well, back to work, lot's of it in the near future

One little thing you should note is that since you have both tempsetpw.grf and tempsetw.grf in your newgrf directory, putting both in your newgrfw.txt file will most likely cause problems. If you like the new temperate set locos as they are in reality, keep tempsetw.grf, if not, tempsetpw.grf is the same, except the locos are colored to match your color.

if they are in one directory it dosen't cause any problems until they are in newgrf(w).txt
what are you looking at? it's a signature!

I use the .cfg file that TTDpatch creates automatically when it can't find one. In TTConfig (the fish tool), I set the display to mode 5. My newgrfw.txt only has those two lines.

Here's how the full-screen doesn't work for me: what I get is a full screen allright. However, the game is framed to a 800x600 box with the rest of the screen being black.

Has anybody else experienced this?
