Need more help with GRF's

Post by FakeYou »

*first problem solved*
Hello, I'm new to this forums, been reading it a few weeks now though.

anyway, I need some help. I'm trying to make a new wagon, I have made a GRF with the help of GRFwizard and the help of a tutorial on wiki.ttdpatch. But now its glitchy, it replaces a double diesel enige and doesn't show the sprite correctly.

so, please help me :)

*scond problem*

I'm now trying to make a engine. I made the .PCX and .NFO files, correct as far as I know, now I tried to convert them to a .GRF with GRFwizard but when I do the resulting .GRF is just empty and the only thing I get is a small .NEW file

so, again, please help me :)

Is only the sprite display glitchy?

It looks like the sprite sizes (as defined in the real sprites) dont match up with the sizes of sprites in the pcx. Try extending the sprites to the correct size using the transparent "magic blue" colour, or reduce the size of the sprites via the real sprite dimensions.

well- the wagon sprites are glitchy because the coordinates you gave must have been a little off.

i dont know if you have this, but take a look at -
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... &sk=t&sd=a
its very buggy, but simply getting the coordinates right is usually ok.

i've never coded a train wagon before-so i might not be great at explaining- but i had a little look at the grf-

the id you are changing is 22 (written in hex as 16). If you look on
http://wiki2.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.ph ... VehicleIDs
you can see that is the "SH 125". Since you aren't changing any other properties, it is simply a replacement of that. If it is just a goods wagon i think try 32 (or hex 20) or change more properties.

Ok, I deleted the files, and re-packed the .NFO and .PCX files, I changed nothing to the code but it works now, it is a wagon now.

Thanks for the help anyway, I'll probably have more question later though
