Airport replacement

Post by jmebertv »

I read the wiki on airport replacement, and I'm still a little unsure how it all works.

you are supposed to "delete" the old airport, and the name turns grey, then you build the new one, and all the aircraft automatically switch over?

What happened when you tried that?
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Yes, but you must do it quick, after certain amount of time gray sign will disappear

Maybe I need a refresher on what "delete" refers to, I used the dynamite tool, and it was gone instantly

That is what is supposed to happen. Now go and build a new, and better, one.

Perhaps, unless the billboards start to fall,
I may never see a tree at all.

I did, but all my aircraft then had invalid orders instead of picking up the new airport.

You have to build the new one overlapping the old location. By how much, I am not sure, but "enough".

As long as you build it while the old name is still onscreen, and overlapping, then all the aircraft should hook in fine.

A simple trick should help you to get a bit more time. Append a truck/bus station to the airport. Then remove the airport and build the new airport in a way that it is connected to the previously build truck station again. Now remove the station.
