Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
Me and TheBrightside started a game on his Austrian scenario that you can find in the scenario area of the forum for those who are interested.
So we started this company called Austrian HSA (AHSA). first order of business was to get some cash, so we built our fist station in Eisenerz, where we pick up some iron ore and transport it to Linz. the route got AHSA of to a great finaciel start. We then moved our base of operations to Wien where the company built its first passenger stations, and the project to reach Graz was started.
In the far west of the country the counrty expanded even more building a small network of passenger stations. Edit: thanks for the comments and I fixed the screenshots, hope you'll like em better now.

Maybe its just my PC but it seems those pics are weirdly blurry?! Do you resize/compress them or something bizarre? Shame, they look like nice shots.
Re: Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
I think he resized it to fit into the 800x640 screenshot limitation we have on the forums.

They were fine how they were originally. Looking a bit rough now. I'd put them back how they were
EDIT - Yep, thats better.

Re: Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
As Silver continued to expand our Wien to Graz project (will be posted later) I was left to expand from our Linz base of operations. The plan was to connect Linz to the Wien West Bahnhof. But first I wanted to create a regional line for the towns around Linz. Unfortunately after being surrounded by rail Amsfelden no longer felt that loving towards to company and thus had to live with a bus connection to Traun. The pictures bellow are of a few years later after the connectio to WIen was made in 1945.

Re: Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
After the beginnings of the Linz regional network were laid down. The company focussed now on finishing the Linz-Wien line in time to be done to connect to the Wien-Graz line when completed as well. The first town after Linz to be connected was Sankt Valentin. No station being built in Ens as the town as hostile towards the company at that point. A bus service to Sankt Valentin being their connection to the Austrian network.
Next would be the charming Amsetten. Amsetten would later boom in the years during construction becomming the town depicted at the completetion of the connection in 1945.
Finally before the next big station is Ybss an der Donau. Ybbs unfortunately did not get the growth spurt that came to Amsetten during the consruction years.

Re: Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
To continue the Linz-Wien line. A connection was made from Ybbs to Melk. Though not noticable, the town did grow a bit during the construction years. So it shows that Melk is quite a healty town.
The next stop would be the Town of Sankt Pölten. This town grew heavily during the last parts of the construction years. Because of it's lager size the town was also included in the Intercity Express line from Wien to Linz. Also another regional route was added to the city with a station in the West side of the town. A tram line connection the two stations. Thus Sankt Pölten had two stations. Nordbahnhof and Westbahnhof. The regional route will the highlighted another time.
The last station on the route to Wien would be Tulln an der Donau. It's visable below with the Wien-Linz intercity express.

Re: Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
Finally we come to our End destination. Wien in 1945. This is Wien at the completion of both the Linz-Wien line and the Wien-Graz lines. Both lines were completed in 1945. The city had grown in the years since the company founding in 1920. The sleepy town of around 4.000 people had grown to one of 17.000 in the last 25 years. So now appart from the bus and tram services provided by the company the people of Wien could finally leave their city behind to travel to travel to the other parts of Austria. Of course now they were asking to be transported even further still! This is the brightside signing out!

Re: Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
these shots are stunning, really like the very first shot off the iro ore station,
i do however think they would benift from using the newterrian GRF, to get rid of those ugly grid lines.
PS, would any be able to give me a working link to the Dutch Canery GRF, as the one on GRF crawler, seems to be broken ?

Wooo! Such a huge station for such a small town. Anyway, nice effort though!

Re: Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
Like the brightside mentioned in his previous post, the Graz to Wien line was completed by 1945. The company decided to build a high speed line instead of opting to thru all the small villages. the reason for this was that the BR 05 had become available to the company while the ASHA was planning there steps. with 160km/h the BR 05 was the ideal train for an express passenger service. and so the line was born.
by 1945 Graz's economy was starting to bloom and they were building everywere. and so Graz got a big station that would be able to handle all the traffic of this day and age and the future.

Re: Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
The funny thing is, that the town next to it, "Eisenerz" is the german word for "Iron Ore". This is what the place looks like: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/1442094.0004tom wrote:these shots are stunning, really like the very first shot off the iro ore station,(...)
Here you can see it in the background: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/1600359
I think I should try to make a Semmering-Scenario, to rebuild the Semmeringbahn (which claims to be the oldest mountain-railway in the world:http://www.panoramio.com/photo/866660).
Re: Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
Thanks for the comments guys, appriciated.
Doktorhonig, cool pictures. went to look up the Semmeringbahn and found that it ran from Gloggnitz to Mürzzuschlag. and I found that amusing because that's part of the railway I'm about to share pictures from.
To continue with the story, after the afore mentioned Wien to Graz express passenger line was completed the ASHA decided it was time to serve the people who didn't live in the bigger cities, and a train line running from Wien through the small towns in the hills was conceived. the building of this line started early in 1945 and was taken in use in early 1946, using the VT-137 diesel as the train type.

For the sharp ones out there you'll notice that the trains in the pictures aren't the VT-137, these pictures were taken during the testing before the opening of the route.
here's some more screens of the same route.

Re: Ottd game in Austrian Scenario
Ten years later...
It soon became obvious that the line Wien-Linz was not capable of handeling a steady stream of cargo and passenger traffic. This resulted in frequent delays for passengers travelling on the route. It as decided to expand the rail capacity from 2 to 4 tracks between the two cities. Linz received a new station entrance, now combining the entrance to Linz and the steel mill together. A new station was built to service the factory in Wien. And my how have the cities grown in those ten years...
