Cant build aircraft

Hey folks. Been playing TTD on and off for a good few years now, and downloaded Open a few days back.

Ive noticed, however, that, no matter which map i select, settings i change or anythhing, i cant build aircraft.
I can view the aircraft for sale, but the actualy "buy" button id greayed out.

I tryed building all the different airports etc, but nothing seems to have made any difference.

Ive also tried both versions of open. Is it just me, or have i clicked a bad setting or something?

Build an airport. Click on a hangar on the airport. Choose your aircraft. Click Buy.

What you have been looking at is the Available Aircraft list, which only tells you what is available. In olden times, you could buy aircraft from that screen, but they would appear in a semi-random hangar. Things are more precise now.

If no aircraft are available at all, then it is too early in the game, and you have to wait until 1928 I think before the first aircraft is available.
