Bridges
Hi all, i hope i'm not double posting but can anyone tell me why the hell my trains won't cross any bridge that's longer than three squares ? It's damn annoying as the trains turn around after moving three squares onto the bridge and return to their station.
cheers

Hmmm ... another man that noticed the bridge bug. I think the 0.5.3-Rc1 should be hidden and devs should pretend it was never released, till 0.5.3-rc2 comes out

If you need something, do it yourself or it will be never done.
My patches: Extra large maps (1048576 high, 1048576 wide) (FS#1059), Vehicle + Town + Industry console commands (FS#1060), few minor patches (FS#2820, FS#1521, FS#2837, FS#2843), AI debugging facility
Other: Very large ships NewGRF, Bilbo's multiplayer patch pack v5 (for OpenTTD 0.7.3)

Bridge bug here too
Bridge bug seen here with .5.3 RC1 as well.
Train goes 1 or 2 squares on to bridge, disappears, then turns around.

Yes, but many people go to openttd.org without even knowing about the forumMaedhros wrote:We know, thus the "DO NOT USE" in the 0.5.3-rc1 thread's title...
And there is:
This looks like some minor error that may appear only occasionally.openttd.org wrote: Note:this release candidate (sometimes) crashes when trains go over bridges.
It does not say that "bridges are unusable", which is the reality

The average user is not a software developer and doesn't know the difference between an rc and an actual release. They'll just click the first download link they see for their OS. Try to educate them and their eyes will glaze over... believe me, I've tried.
I'd suggest modifying http://www.openttd.org/downloads.php to list the stable, recommended release at the top of the page.
