how to make new cars? and new stations?

from the openttd suggestion forum in the tread just an idea? limos, police cars...

how do you make cars in my case police car and limo, and new stations in my case police station, jail and limo station?

Chap... I think you have the wrong game here. Its about transportation. if you want police and criminals, I think you need a different game.

Anyway, you need to draw sprites for the vehicles and buildings. Then you need to code them into GRF format. Then add them to your game.
How do you do that? Do a search and you will find plenty of information on these forums. Similar things have been asked many, many times.

you need Emergency 3 to get police :D

I foresee new industries:

"Police Station" in cities above 1000, produces prisoners.
"State Prison" in the middle of nowhere, accepts prisoners.
"Prisoners Bus" new road vehicle, can hold 10 prisoners.
"Prisoners Car" new train vehicle, can hold 15 prisoners.

Obviously, because prisoners are not placed close together, usually 5 on each side of the bus, with a full empty seat between each prisoner, and armed guards in the back and front of the bus, only 10 and 15 will fit in a bus or car.

Furthermore, make Ferries and Airplanes refittable. Recreate Alcatraz, with prisoner ferries. And ConAir (The nickname for the U.S. Airline that transports convicts from one prison to another prison far away) was the ONLY airline that was still flying on 9/11 as they couldn't just stop anywhere to drop their passengers, they were allowed to complete their runs and continue operations on 9/12 and 9/13.

New Disaster: Prison Riot, will stop the Prison from accept prisoners for a full month.

haha that's an amazing industry idea. same could be used for hospitals. of course we need to wait for support of new industry's forst

just call them celebrities and have this suggestion was to try to add to the transport life with some variety, to see some cop cars driving the the city with flashing lights and a stretch limo to add more than lorries and buses, to add something different to the game. it can be any celebrities for suggestion i just said instead of use passenger call them celebrity.

Now, I can see something there. Now OTTD has Articulated vehicles, you could easily make a convoy of a limo between 2 police cars. might look quite interesting.

I think people reacted harshly towards your first comment (myself included) as we are tired of people like Jasper just coming up with random road-vehicle related suggestions all the time. I think you might have something though and the more interest we can add to the game, the better. What you need to do next though is expand on your idea. Give us some formal ideas and things like capacities, outputs etc. Then, if you are able to, try drawing some sprites to be used. That way, as soon as we get newcargos and newindustries, you can add them straight away :)

I like the idea of hospitals. Hospitals should accept patients (and cure them).
BUT WHAT WILL GENERATE PATIENTS???? - a skiing center? a racing track? a torture dungeon?!! or Chuck Norris himself???!!!!!
Well there is in the end the city itself as it produce passengers and mail. There should be little ambulances which should act as loading terminals, and the patients should gather there till the ambulance car drives them to the hospital. Brilliant 8)
But if we trying to continue in this way, OTTD will be much more like a hybrid of TTD and SimCity - and I have nothing against it :D
And that would be and interesting game!

And about the limos - they can carry V.I.P.-s from the limo station to the expensive Clubs in the cities. In the tropical climate there are those nice rich white houses, so only they should produce VIPs. I don't know about the other climates but it would be ridicolus if the whole town produce VIPs including those shacks in the towns end.

I read the suggestion and I tought: GTA!

In that game you can even manually drive limo's, cop cars, etc. You can even take out missions (or take out people), play with guns, play cops and robbers etc. :P

It would be cool to see something like other project, but using map form openttd

maybe something like this

but on ottd maps, something like you can do with SimCity 2000 and SimCopter, where you can fly helicopter in your city built in SimCity.., so you can move your character on your openttd map, but also steal your buses, trains, whatever from your ottd company.

as you can see with less than 20 posts i am new here. i been playing ttd for ages but got bored as it in the end each game is the same. but now i found ottd i play it again.

i didnt come up with random road vehicles i thought of them for the graphics, the gameplay, the variety and add new features.

granted i play simcity and love gta but gta with stealing buses etc did not cross my mind at the time of this suggestion. it was because in simcity the police etc were tiny little cars with useless graphics but with ottd graphics cars would look pretty good.


another little suggestion: if people could maybe expand on the idea?

how about you need to transport oil and coal and rather than get money you have an oil supply where you have to create petrol (maybe create petrol stations/ or not) for your buses and lorrys, trains and planes to run and they use a small amount. for if you cant transport oil or coal or you think you have too much have a buy/sell feature to other companies
maybe.
this could add a new mode to the game for people who want a bit more complexity to the game with a bit more to think about

Grand Open Auto Deluxe?

My favourite mission in GTA:SA was driving a train... :)

Anyways, I like the concept of criminals 'cargo' as described above. Patients and hospitals are less appealing to me.

For some hard core noir transport challenges, make cities produce a certain amount of corpses each month (which are to be deliveried to specific destinations, as people not necesairly want to be buried in the town they die)

Ski center could generate patients. After all, you have Locomotion's ski center to work as a template.
