'Floating' rail link gets support

Strathclyde's public transport chief has said building a 300mph magnetic rail link between Glasgow and Edinburgh is an "attractive option".

Indeed, politicians amongst others have talked about such things... I'm with Kevo00 on this. I'd like to see a maglev, it'd be rather fun if nothing else, but I can't say it's all that likely to happen, not in the near future anyway.

I think this may just be a local news story on the benefits of the larger UK Ultraspeed project, which includes the Glasgow/Edinburgh link.

There's a difference between this and other ideas in the UK. Now Scotland has a devolved assembly they're free from Westminster when it comes to making transport decisions. Free from Gordon Brown saying "That will cost more than a token amount of money so no you can't. Long term benefits? lalalalalalalalala not listening lalalalalalala!"

I like Scotland. It's like England except once in a while common sense seems to creep into politics. Lets just hope this project shows the rest of the UK the way forward. We really need those North-South high speed lines.
