That is really bad
You should try to model with more 'difficult' method and make sure you use reference image/blueprint. You can model with many methods, and please, don't use the basic models like cone, cylinder. You should make it all in 1 object, by using 'box-modelling' method. After you've modelled exactly the same like the reference image, use Meshsmooth (make sure your height, and length have more polygons. Remember, read more tutorial, it will help you. If you don't know, you can ask me too (you can add me to your MSN and please tell me through PM if you added me because I won't accept any 'unknown' contacts.) The attached image is the Roman Temple, which I made months ago. Now I'm not doing that because of insufficient RAM.
Thanks

Thanks

Airplanes work quite well with cylinders and extrusion. Just make sure you use a blueprint. A good blueprint site is http://www.the-blueprints.com/

there´s more than one way to create models. everyone as another way with it. you can boxmodel them, model polybypoly, model them with nurbs, splines, whatever. you can use cylinders and whatever too. the more you model the more you learn
the final product is the important thing.

i did all models/renderings/textures myself. no conversions.

Remember, you need to use more 'boxes' and use Meshsmooth. Don't try to make it smooth by moving the polygons, use Meshsmooth (its in the modifier list) and make sure they are all in 1 object if you are going to use meshsmooth. Its a bit better this time, but there are still many things to do.
Box-modelling is to first have a box, then keep extrude it and move it to have the shape of the plane. Finally, apply a meshsmooth modifier, apply texture (remember to use UVW mapping) and its done.
Thanks

This is the one I used for my Transport Empire model. It's not perfect (for one it's not even symmetrical) but along with a lot of reference images from http://www.airliners.net/ it was good enough for me.timzap wrote:a boeing 747

Yes, I hear the Japanese are having a go at making one!

Only it's such a difficult task it'll be probably be a decade or two before we see a proper prototype.
