Problems with music sounds - SOLVED. BUT...!
Problems with music sounds - SOLVED. BUT...!
Why doesn't the music work? I have no problems with other sounds including effect etc. I run the game with winXP. I have downloaded and installed VDMSound -program wich should help to get rid of any sound problems you may have with a DOS-game - but didn't help.
Is anyone else familiar with a bug wich holds your train within the depot? I have played the game for many years but I came across with the bug not until now. I stopped the train, sold it and bought a new one. That seemed to work but then my other train did the same thing within the depot. That time solding and buying a new one didn't work anymore.
My TTD version is 1.8.1
Thank you for any good tips!

Hi Fozi,
Sound problems, have you searched the forum for similar topics ?
Can't really help because it works just fine here, you can always play the music with another program like Winamp
Your other problem, post a savegame and your ttdpatch.cfg file, then we can try it
But a savegame that exactly shows the problem

It might have something to do with the MIDI support. Try all the settings in the TT configuration program from UniFish. It that doesn't work, try altering your Windows XP MIDI settings to a different instrument set. I've had the same problem with XP, and I simply selected another MIDI set. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling TTD. Oh and uh, TTD for Windows has completely nothing to do with DOS.

YES! Problem solved.
At first checked the TTConfig. There I did no changes in the sounds section cause by selecting the Midi Hardware Type did'n work. So I left it as SB AWE32.
Then I checked from Control Panel -> Sounds, and from there i selected a different MIDI advice (SB Live! Midi Port -> MS GS Wavetable SW Synth).
Now the sounds work perfect. Someone suggested that I couls use Winamp for listening music. I tried that but as I guessed that didn't turn up the same feeling as the TTD's own music.
So thats it! Thank for your advice.

TTD own music is in the GM directory, with extension .gm.
This is just a normal midi .mid file. If your rename it accordingly, you can listen to the original TTD music with winamp.

Oh, I forgot. There's another problem, very weird one. I can't write "." (a dot =). When I push the dot it works as a backspace. I am able to write "," ";" and ":" BUT NOT THE DAMN DOT. I can even write scandinavic letters such as ö,ä,å in the game. I have played TTD with other OS but now I have XP.
I am confused.
