More Income Problems (MinIN-R7311)

Post by VortexUK »

I posted twice on the main forums regarding income problems with the 4-3-8 main download. Since I can't play this I decided to try the MinIn-R7311 download.

I haven't tried airports but passenger/mail trains generate no income. Passengers don't get on or off trains - ie once loaded they remain as cargo.
The only trains that generate income are trains carrying goods that load at station A and offload at station B

There is also a path problem both running the original TTD path finder and NPF - I keep getting train x is lost messages.

I'm running just the basic TTD vehicles with no vehicle patches and the default settings from the download.

I'm running on Win2K.

At the current time I don't see any point in playing further as these bugs don't seem to affect the computer players.

Firstly, theres a specific MiniIN problems thread, to try and keep MiniIN issues in the same place.
I haven't tried airports but passenger/mail trains generate no income. Passengers don't get on or off trains - ie once loaded they remain as cargo.
Passanger trains work exactly as they're supposed to for me using MiniIN r7311; both for existing and new games. Can you replicate it in a new game? Does it occur with a clean config file? If so, post a save + config (in the proper thread).
There is also a path problem both running the original TTD path finder and NPF - I keep getting train x is lost messages.
I use NPF exclusively at the moment for PBS, and have no problems. Are the trains actually lost (ie. is the pathfinder actually failing, or is it more a message issue)? One thing I have noticed (relatively) recently is that train lost messages often appear as soon as a train cant find a route, rather than waiting for the specified number of days in the config file. So if you're changing sections of track without the game paused, that could be generating the messages.
At the current time I don't see any point in playing further as these bugs don't seem to affect the computer players.
Not like the computer players are much of a challange anyway
From the main site;
Nightly builds are available for the daring and adventurous users who wish to be on the bleeding edge. Note that these builds are completely unsupported and may not even function properly. Use at your own risk. Backup your savegame ALWAYS before using a nightly. Don't complain to us if it has eaten your savegame.
Nightlies, and the MiniIN even moreso, do contain bugs. They are works in progress towards stable version releases. You have to balance the extra features with the potential for bugs.
Which is the reason I usually have atleast 2 seperate folders, and save a copy of each revision I download, so that its easy to go back a couple if a specific revision turns out to be more buggy than most.

I thought I had posted it in the correct forum - I was in the MinIN threads when I hit the new topic button.

It was a new game I was playing.

Whilst some of the time I was changing tracks most of the time I wasn't. The messages seem to occur if the train is blocked by the presence of another train at the station it wants to get to. I would have expected it to wait at signals as per the original game.

If you can post a savegame and a cfg file, people can have a look at whats going on.

Saying that how ever, if your trains are stuck at a station for more than 80 days they will pop up a message saying that they are lost. If that is happening you need to have a look at your station layout.

OK I have a save game which illustates a number of problems.

Train 3 demonstrates the "don't award to player subsidy" since the terminus which is supposed to accept diamonds doesn't. The train generates no income.

Train 1 probably demonstrates the "no passenger income problem" but I haven't checked.

Train 2 is the only one generating income,

Ok. I tried the latest Nightly - It exhibits all the problems I've been talking about.

The prarnford/fudbourne bus route should be subsidized in both directions as should the prarnford/tardwood aircraft route.

You'll also note I have no road vehicle and no aircraft income despite the fact that the vehicles themselves are making a profit.

As I suspected...

Do not use transfer orders when you are not doing transfers.
