I've read around but I cant find an answer what the banks do? I mean, they got "valueables" in them. But where do I have to transport them?

You just transport them between banks

maybe a little bit late (first post 8 nov) banks only appear during the game, so it can take years before you have two banks that are close enough to transport the valuables.
