Complete graphics package?

Post by Carlsen »

Hi TTD Forums

Just switched from PC to Mac last week (macbook pro), and I was thrilled to hear about the openTTD game. Haven't played it since I ran DOS on my old 486 DX2 (mighty 66MHz), so it's good to be reunited :D

Anyways, I've noticed some graphics updates around the forums, but haven't got a clue of how to install them.
Tried looking around in the threads for pointers and kinda have an idea of what to do. However, I don't really know where to get the graphics, which are good and how to completely install them.
I am in no way very good with this stuff, so an easy solution would be preferred.

Are there any complete packages out there that upgrade the entire graphics easily?

Place the GRFs you download in your OpenTTD data folder and add this to your openttd.cfg file:

[newgrf]
grfsetone.grf
grfsettwo.grf
anothergrffile.grf
whicheveronesyoudownload.grf

enjoy!

You didn't have to switch just to be able to play :)
You can run OpenTTD on a MAC as well :)

I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you take the wall with you. Spoilers and bodykits are how much of the wall you take with you. Rollcages and windownets are how much of a mess you leave on the wall.

I think Darkvater meant "You can run OpenTTD on a Windows as well :)"

Well, I guess it works similar as how you install it on the other OS's, aka just make sure that it can find certain data files taken from the orginal game. The readme says how even.

it's not that tricky. You just create a folder for the game (the application folder is not recommeded), drag the application from the dmg into your newly created game folder and then you create a folder called "data" and put the mentioned files from the readme into it. Optional you can also add the scenarios, a gm folder for the music and so on.
Updating later on is just a matter og drag-n-drop the new application on top of the old one.
