Which version of TT do I want?

Which version of TT do I want?

Post by rusty_turkey »

Waayyy back in the day, I used to play TT and there were a LOT more vehicles than in the 'Deluxe' version I recently started playing.

This was something like 7 years ago though, so I can't remember much about the extra vehicles other than there was a 'Gresly A3' then a Gresly A4', then A5, then there were at least 5 more versions of steam trains before the desiel engines were released.

In general there were just a LOT more trains released... :?:

Does anyone know what version or release or whatever contained these extra trains?

You were playing TTO, which started it's gameplay in 1930, rather than 1950 as TTD does. I too fondly remember all of the really funky trains that there were before the diesels.

If you want to, I'd download either TTD and TTDPatch, or OTTD, and Pikkabirds UK Renewal Set (from his website here).

This is a complete graphical replacement set for TTD, and it tries to get back the original feel of TTD, with vastly improved upon graphics. There is a great selection of steamers from 1920 onwards, including old favorites, like the Pannier Tank and the A4 Express locomotive, along with many others, all now with tenders.

There are the same diesels as before, with a couple of additions, some really nice electrics (including modern trains developed after TTO and TTD, such as the Voyager and Pendilino), as well as a far larger set of futuristic vehicles and maglev's.

Be sure to read the readme of TTDPatch before using it (it's actually very easy to read, it may seem daunting, but it will save you a lot of headaches initially), and remember to refer to the manual BEFORE asking questions, as you can usually answer them yourself, without having to wait for someone here to show up and answer it.

If you choose OTTD, it has a whole section of the forums for it, and you will find download links there, as well as help in the various sections. I know nothing about OTTD, but plenty of folks do, so feel free to ask them :)).

TTDPatch can be found here

Have fun!
