Is there any way to play this game without a disk?

General talk about Transport Tycoon that isn't specific to TTD, TTDPatch or OpenTTD.

Well...am i doing something wrong? When I try to play TTD it tells me this error "Unable to acess transport tycoon CD", is there any way of getting it to work? I downloaded it off one of the links here, and it refuses to run.

Of course there is! :D
Download TTDPatch from http://www.ttdpatch.net/src/, copy it to your TTD folder and run ttdpatchw to play the game.

[note: as long as you acquired Transport Tycoon Deluxe for Windows]

Is there a tutorial inside the game? I've gotten interested in the game, I've checked out Chris Sawyer's Locomotion demo and that has a pretty simple to follow tutorial

not really, if you turn off all the switches for ttdpatch, the ingame ones might work.

The tutorials work assuming all switches are off, with the exception of win2k (which must be on if you're using a NT/2k/XP system), *AND* the newspaper settings are set to their default.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Ha the tutorials are really funny with switches on.

Just thought I'd say that...

Yeah, I watched one the other day, the advanced railway service tutorial tried to build a 7 track, 2 length station on water and then proceeded to try and build a whole line between non-existent places over water.

If you want a working tutorial you had definitely turn off, as DaleStan said, all switches apart from the win2k switch.

So technically, by changing the news settings, you could bugger up the game's tutorial even without the patch?

Yep. The demos are long strings of "Click at $SCREEN_LOCATION at $TIME" instrutcions. If there's a news message there, then the demo will click that instead.
