xK's GRF MANAGER

Post by xK! »

TO GET THE LAST VERSION CHECK THE LASTEST POSTS, OR MY WEB PAGE(Here it will be for sure)

I dont know if there is any similar program, but i'm tired of editing the CFG with a text editor, looking for files, and that stuff... (i'm dangerously lazy :P) so i made this program. I'm gonna post it this week on my yahoo web page for download. It's made on Visual Basic 6.0. The version is a beta. It has an embedded traduction system so if anyone wants, you can make the translation and you will be on the credits :).

the page is

http://ar.geocities.com/germitox17

Enter to the main page and search for the OTTD GRF MAN link.

Version details will be logged there too.

hope i can upload it shortly.

If you got any idea to add to the manager, just post it! or send it to my mail (About section of the manager)

see ya.

That's odd. The page is stored on the Argentinian Yahoo server a think, or at least it haves the .ar extension :P. I can acces it without problems, even being logged out. If you cant enter, just try the http://ar.geocities.com/germitox17/ (added a final slash). If anyone has the same problem, tell me.

I'm having problems to upload the file, so im gonna upload it as a PDF file, so it dosent give me error. Right click and save the file DONT OPEN IT. Change the .pdf to .exe and voila! got the installer :P

The program must be on the ottd root directory, with the openttd.cfg file. There is a openttd.cfg file on the CFG files folder, if your's dont work, try that one.

Well... the file seems uploaded. It's a zip file of about 75 Kb. It seems yahoo restricted the total data that can be accesed by anonymous users per hour. That error message says it's maximum hourly data rate was exceeded, so the next hour, if you get lucky, you will be able to download it.

I hope i can get some extra bandwith shortly. I'll contact yahoo to see what's going on.

see ya

75KB? and you can't just upload it to the forums because?
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Uhh... I've downloaded it. Sooo - here it is, attached to the post :)

But I just can't get it running. I tried all the .cfg files, and all the folder combinations.

I still get the error:

And somehow, every time I look at the splash screen, my mind projects something like this:

Dunno if it's on purpose, or just an coincident... But I suggest changing it. There's nothing worse than real-life politics in games. Really.

xK's GRF MANAGER CONSIDERATIONS

Post by xK! »

I once uploaded my fmanager to my page, but i didn't even thought to post it on the forum. About the logo, i think the phrase "I'm a metal slug nazis fanatic" should explain it (wakcy and happy), but im not pro-nazi or nothing similar. I just like the eagle logo.

I've posted it on my page, because i find it easier to upload it, and don't have to make any extra posts when i upload it. If there are any new considerations for further versions, i'll post them.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR USING THE MANAGER (Beta v0.9)

- Im must be on the same directory than openttd.cfg file (lets call it OTTD\)
- All grf files must be located on the OTTD\data\newgrf folder
- if you get odd grf configuration, just open openttd.cfg with a text editor, and copy-paste the [newgrf] section [MUST NOT BE ON CAPITAL LETTERS, OTHERWISE YOU GOT ERROR :( and ottd wont load the section] and paste it on the end of the file and:
- On Openttd.cfg, [newgrf] section, the GRF line must be:

newgrf\file.grf

and not

newgrf/file.grf

If you think you are getting some error because of you openttd.cfg file, there is one stored on the CFG Files folder.

If you want to turn from english to spanish, just edit the xkGRFMAN.cfg file, and tipe español instead of english

IF YOU FIND THE SPLASH LOGO SHOCKING OR UNPLEASANT, TELL ME AND I'LL ERASE IT, BUT IF YOU FIND IT FUNNY AND INTRESTING, TELL ME TOO! Thanks. (germitox17@yahoo.com.ar or germitox17@hotmail.com (MSN))

I say the logo is clean because many countries have an eagle like that. You can't judge a book by it's cover meaning because of the logo don't mean it is going to be bad.

However Darkvater, that swastika is reversed, like the difference between a pentagram with the point up, or point down.

I realised this in RE the reversed symbol means peace and the normal symbol means war.

Do you think that if one reverses porn photo it wouldn't be porn anymore?

Hitler just used swastica and the world cursed it. However, swastica was used for many years as symbol of sun iirc

Yes, but photos of naked women in sexual positions aren't symbols that have many different connotations.

The swastika was a symbol in many many many religions, used from Bhuddism to Christianity to many of the old extinct Pagan religions.

Hitler himself saw the swastika in his local church as a child, which is why he chose it when he set up the Nazi party after WW1.

But anyway, this is all really off topic, and could be offensive to a small minority of people.
