C++ developpement of OpenTTD

Post by oim09 »

Hello,

I've discovered OpenTTD a few days ago, and when I read the source code I found it horrible, a little bit like a huge plate of spaghettis. In fact, excepted for perfomances, C programming isn't a good way to write a game like this.

I'm now asking myself if there's already an obect oriented version, written in C++ of OpenTTD, because I think that it would be a lot much easier to write and to maintain a game like OpenTTD in C++.

If not, I think it could be a good opportunity, for everybody who's interrested, to start conceiving a C++ version of OpenTTD.

I have good skills in obect oriented conception, so I if other people like me are interrested we can discuss on this board, or with MSN messenger.

I love this kind of posts: "I'm great, I know everything - just talk to me, and I'll eventually help you."

In 99% of this kind of cases, the "happy helper" types become unable to contact after a few questions and a couple of days...

Oh well...

This is an "open" project - you can download the code. If you want to help the developers, you can rewrite the code on your own to C++, and everybody will praise you like they should ;)

It's like wading through a garbage dump trying to find that chair you threw away - Not a good idea. 8)
