Recently been getting back into TT & had a look over these forums briefly. Decided to get my feet wet with a question.
I've not played a game for long, usually stopping 20 - 40 years into it, I enjoy setting things up and getting everything running smoothly. I was playing lastnight when it occured to me I can supply lots and lots of goods, however, I never have to transport away any waste.
It is a transport service, & is the kind of thing tendered out to contractors in the real world.
If it were added, would this be too much ? or would it add to the game ?
It could lead to two or three new possible industries, waste could be broken down into a few groups.
Civil waste -> Rubbish Tip / Recycling Centre.
Industry waste -> Chemicals plant. Hazardous materials plant.
Garbage Collection ?

I don't like it. First, at least in my area, it is contracted to dedicated waste disposal companies who happen to own their own vehicles. If you're talking about garbage trucks on the streets, that doesn't sound right. But trains and ships hauling it makes a little more sense to a point.
Maybe over the road trucks, but not the refuse collections trucks that go door to door, that seems outside the realm of TT.
Just my opinion.

As far as trucks go, rather than having a truck going round and round the streets ( which the AI seems to do sometimes anyway ), stops at depot's to collect would make sense. The further the distance between depots the more it earns, it could be said that the trip between the depots is when it's "collecting" however it's really about making it from depot to depot and finally to Rubbish Tip / Recycling Centre.
As for industries, trains would typically service them anyway so just a different carriage type to carry "waste".
