Maglev shape
Is this shape a good shape for the 32 bpp version of maglev for the incoming 0.5.0 version of OpenTTD?

It looks pretty well for your first project. But please keep in mind, that if you want your modelto be included, you'll have to add quite some detail to it, have good textures, and good lighting. As for the lighting, there is a blendfile in which you have to append your train/truck and render it with the settings of that file. Keep blending, and in within a few months, your skills might be good enough to model a good train.
Edit: as for the train itself. I think the nose is a bit to big. And try making some windows in it.

It looks rather unrealistic for a Maglev, because this shape will cause a large downward force that opposes the levitation force. In other words, it would require a much larger levitation force at high speeds.
For maglev, you want a shape that enhances levitation, not suppresses it.
That's exactly opposite to other high-speed trains like the TGV/ICE/Shinkansen who want a large downward force to enhance traction.

thats okay. nobody blames you for trying
IT's your maglev train, so its basiccally up to you wether the shape is good. If you want the shape to be realistic, use reference pics of maglevs.
this is a 'common' one:

try if you can get that shape. Put vertices closer together to get sharper edges. To insert a row of vertices (loopcut) press K. Good luck.

Darkmast49, i think this look like the japanese trains (shinkansen). It looks like someone steped on its nose (it's aerodynamics, i know, but its ugly
). Something more like the Transrapid will be fine.
Edit: The Transrapid is already in the wiki http://wiki.openttd.org/index.php/Rail_ ... raphics%29
so Darkmast49, i think it's better to concentrate on another shape.

I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you take the wall with you. Spoilers and bodykits are how much of the wall you take with you. Rollcages and windownets are how much of a mess you leave on the wall.
