(Req) Container Trains

Post by m50005 »

Don't know if this has been requested before, have done a search, but couldn't find anything.
In the UK, (also mainland Europe & the states), container trains on flat wagons feature heavily in the rail infrastructure.
I know in the UK the are used for transporting most things in the game, i.e goods, food, steel, coal etc....
is it possible for someone to create a container set to increase the amount of goods/food that can be moved in 1 train.
Ta

In the NL pack are container wagons for goods.
20 and 40 foot ones.
You can change youself the amount till 100 tonnes if you want.

I am playing with a set right now it is about done stat wise, i am just trying to tweek the graphic a little. i think i need to shrink it a touch. it is the right size to the engine but i can only fit 7 cars and an engine into a 16 unit station, i am just a few pixles off. stat wise it only gives you a a little more cargo per train load. I am more going for realisim and visuals then to drastricly change game stats.

anyways, as soon as i can figgure out a way, you are welcome to have a copy.

Hmm.

Only critique is lack of supports and base... I'd like posts on the corners & a bottom to the carriages...

But seriously man thats just a niggle. 9/10 :)

yeah, the bottom cross hatching is there. it is just hard to see with the rails. as far as i can tell it is an acurate model. i see a hundred of those everyday on my train ride to work. http://forum.atlasrr.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=24414 for an idea of what they look like.

since those pictures were taken, I have shrunk the the length of the car down 10% for better game play. it looks a little cartoonish now but plays a lot better. also it seems to be about to scale with the goods truck now. so IF we had a semi trailer in loco it would be to game scale.

ill post pics later. hell maybe ill just post the car :). I was hoping to post a teaser train this week, an engine and fright cars , but, i have had a busy week.

Edit> Ok so i was inspired to go fix the cars. i have some new images. of the smaller ones.

The length of modern wagons, was already a problem with the NL pack.
Because of the length of the platforms, modern trains could sometimes transport less than the oldies.
eg. 16 old wagons were equal to 7 modern ones.
There for we had to decide to give some of the modern wagons a little to high payload, to make them profitable in the game.

I agree with you 100%. I have also been rescaling the cars/engines a bit to fit the existing ones. An example is if you import an E8, the games E-series is 1/2 the lenght... UGH.

Anywho.... request filled! http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=22843
