Signal Help

Post by popec »

Hello fellow Open TTDers,
I am new to TT and am having trouble with my train signals, I have read the guide on http://www.transporttycoon.net/ by I don't think I fully understand it.

I have attatched (I think) an early saved game of myn which has a few stations and trains, the signals I have used are a bit dodgy, some times trains go running off on wrong tracks when waiting to the station to unload, I want them to wait until the station is clear, then to go and unload.
Could someone please fix my signals then reupload the game so I can study them?

Thanks.

There's just one problem that can happen if the coal and steel trains meet and could cause deadlock, could be solved by adding another track out.

EDIT: Just looking over it and found that the depots positions may be a problem, because if a train decides that it needs a service it may go off on the wrong track, I would use a shared depot.

Hi again, I built a new railway but this time the trains dont seem to want to unload! Could someone look at this savegame and try to fix it? The railway is at the far right of the screen.

Thanks! :D

Ok... the first thing wrong was... you were trying to take wheat and grain from 1 farm and give it to another... this doesn't work, what you need to do is to take the grain and wheat from both farms to a factory, also with the signals... if i were to put 2 way signals everywhere then two train would come up to each other on the same line and stop then in a couple of minutes turn around and head the other way, but then would keep turning around to head on to each other... what u need to do is to tell the train EXACTLY where to go, these trains have no brains they cant think so you have to tell them what to do, i am im the process of making some video tutorials...hopefully they will help but they are along shot of begining completed... so i have fixed your 2 train networks hopefully you can understand what i am talking about, if you dont, there is plenty of people on this fourm to help you out, and welcome to TTD...
