Graphics for African Scenario

Can anyone recommend a set of tropical graphics for my impending Africa scenario? Anything with a nice selection of engines - especially some Beyer-Garratts :)

African buildings would be good too - although some of the default Tropical are OK. Unfortunately a lot make the Sahara look like the Wild West!

The US Set and Arctic Renewal Set both have some nice steam. The UK exported a lot of its old steam engines to Africa (empire and all that). However, neither US or Arctic are really suitable.

Can anyone help?

Hmm the nile is missing :)

By the way, I think more copper ore mines in the desert areas would be good. Also, try to make this map bigger... or you're making WHOLE Africa?

Yup... the whole of Africa + Saudi peninsula. On a 1024x1024 map.

Ive done major place names in: Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali, Senegal, all small countries around to Cote d'Ivoire. Should have the major places sorted in about 2-3 days.

There will be tons of resources - Ive researched the exports of all African countries. Every one will have something they actually export. (Except maybe Chad - until someone mods OpenTTD to allow industries from other climates, or creates OpenTTD Cotton industries!)

Talking about which - this would be perfect map to add Bauxite, Coffee, and Cotton industries to.

Oh... and the Nile? At this scale, you see the Nile Valley - and Ive cut a mark higher up the river to show its path through flatter terrain. You can also make out the Niger and Congo rivers quite clearly.

Now what I'd LOVE... allow water on flat tiles at height>0. Lakes!! Any coders up for it?

Well, Egypt seems to have a few American & German diesel locos..

Interestingly theres the "Blue Tiger", wich i believe is the same as the one in DBSet.

Their tourist attractions, not housing all over the country. :roll:
Egyptians don't live in tiny pyramids you know..

and i doubt you can prevent a building apperearing all over the map, it would need coding just for that feature..

Already put in! But only as a set of three pyramid hills. Be the EVIL controller who demolishes the Pyramids to make way for Cairo International airport!!

If you find photos of any simple railroad wagons, or trains you want for this set i can always help if i find them simple to draw and refrence pictures are avaible.

Awww.... being a Brit, I want to have the Beyer-Garratts. (I seem to remember playing a set with them in my DOS TTDLX+TTPatch days.)

It should be relatively easy for some skilled person to cut/paste the locos from the various sets into one Africa set. Permissions respected of course.

when i said pryamid i meant somthing like a transmitor that only can be added when you edit the scenrio

I definitely think you need bigger pyramids. :p
...even though the city will probably demolish them by itself when it grows, heh... :lol:

are you out of your mind those things are a historical monument and no one will ever demolish them to build some houses.
