TTDLOADW.ovl

Post by Stoney »

With version A59 and/or A60, program stalls at launch "Starting TTDLOADW.OVL" and then I get a Windows error: "TTDLOADW.OVL has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Please help.

If that doesn't work, you'll find a crashlog (named CRASH###.TXT) in your TTD directory. Post it. For good measure, post your newgrf[w].cfg and your ttdpatch.cfg too.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

In future you should have the "forcerebuildovl" switch on so that file is deleted and placed back in each time

To prevent that problem reoccuring

Is that really recommended? I don't think it is.

It slows down the game start a bit, and occasionally it fails, but when it works it doesn't do any harm.

Still, alpha 62 will fix the bug that caused the patch not to detect when the loader within ttdload.ovl needed updating, which had been causing all these problems.

You have alpha 60. Those bugs have been fixed since then, just upgrade.

An hour ?
What kind of connection do you have ?
The latsetw.zip found here is only 359 KB big.
This file contains all you need to update to alpha 62fixed.

You'll never need to update TTD itself.
Just the Patch... download the ~300kb file that Rob linked to and you'll be fine.

Hi fellas! You guys seem to know this program A LOT better than I do... so I'll just give you my bloody problem and hope you'll be able to solve it! =)
I think I've tried every thing I've found on this topic, but the ttdloadw.ovl file is still causing problems!
I'll attach the latest crashreport (witch is just a bunch of numbers to me, but I hope you guys can read it better.) =)

For some reason, you have a station that does not have a town associated with it. When the patch tries to display the station name, it needs the town name, but because there is no town, it crashes.

I'm afraid that's all I can say.
