Local Authority Rating
Local Authority Rating
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me how I can improve my rating from "Appalling". I think I annoyed the locals by clearing an area of trees? I have tried paying for a large advertising campaign, but this has had no effect. The local authority won`t let me build a station in their town. Is there a cheat that can improve the rating or allow me to build when my rating is bad?
TIA

Thanks!!
i didnt noticed before trees will help,
normally i buy a truckstation, (or a working bus line to the other side of the city)
then i go to bulldoze half of the land and city
next to that truckstation i build my trainstation,
so most of the times local authority isnt a problem

Or a new switch in the config file could be helpfull:
DontBotherMeWithTownRatings = on
It could be done, because in the savegame editor you can change the ratings easily, so why not let them change at all
Then you could focus on the actual building of good networks and not spend time with building trees and not getting anywhere
Yes i know, i'm a cheater

Ive gone to appalling when my bus gets hit by a train. Usually I'm pretty cool with towns and get along pretty good in the game.
I'm also gutsy with bribing - no saving. You get caught, you get caught. So it goes.
Usually, if I knock down a building and find I can't build a station, I'll just buy the land and go off somewhere else. Time passes and they forget. Every so often, I'll try again. Eventually I can get in.
If its an amitious project (i.e. cleaning away a lot of suburbs for a huge airport) I'll put in a bus line and raise my rating.
Last night, when I couldn't get enought clearance for a big airport, I wedged in a small airport and flew a lot of traffic in and out. As my rating imporved, I picked off a couple of buildings and bought the land. Soon as I got the rating up high enough, out went the grass strip and in went the concrete.

Bluevoss-
if you like to use airports all the time the best thing to do is when at the start of the game you build small airport and put railway track round it in the size of the big airport and then the town builds around the airport and track and there be no problems getting that big airport in which will also be in a gd position without clearing half the town
