I've had Locomotion on my shelf for months, bought it at release and never had the time for it. Now that I'm playing it and reading the forum here, I'm wondering if I shouldn't just download TTD instead. Thoughts?
My other question is more specific: If I build an airport next to a tram stop so they merge into one station, and that station's catchment area includes buildings that accept/produce passengers, what happens? Will the people getting off the tram go to the buildings or the airport? Will the tram pick anyone up?
Couple of newb questions

No the people are produced by the buildings.
They all are transported by tram or airplane.
You get paid for them when they leave at the next station.
People you deliver, don't enter the buildings again , they disappear.
How ever, the more people movements, the higher the station- and townrating will be.
On this way triggering the town growt.

in a way yes... but you could put an unload all passengers order at that station if you are worried about it....

Deacon Welcome
Adding one, or many, bus stops to an airport or railway station can expand the station catchment area and thus the number of passengers and mail. You dont need to add buses/trams.
If you do add bus/trams the passengers they deliver disappear from the game (unless a Ski Resort). The bus/tram will also take away waiting passengers. So no advantage ?
I see three advantages:
- You get paid for delivering.
- You encourage town growth.
- You increase/maintain the passenger rating at the Airport due to more frequent services. So more passengers appear
Where though the tram/bus is taking away all/most the passengers from the station/airport I would build its routes orders to allow it to only pick up passengers every 4th-10th visits (frequency varies).
Thus:
- Go to Suburb
- Go to Airport
- Unload all passengers (acts like a dont load passengers order)
- Go to Suburb
- Go to Airport
- Unload all passengers
- Go to Suburb
- Go to Airport (will allow passengers to be picked up)
- Go to Suburb
- Go to Airport
- Unload all passengers
