Sprite error in tropicstw.grf

Post by Muse »

I just reinstalled my TTDX with the latest TTDpatch and the latest versions of the new graphics, but they won't work.
I'm getting an sprite error: pos #14 (5/10)
I tried both the tropicstw.grf from the big pack and the single one. Both give the same error.
None of the trains work in the tropic climate, I tried that already. The rest of the graphics (tempset, arcticset, etc) work just fine.
What am I doing wrong?

It works for me. Please post your newgrf.cfg and the GRF you are using.

Are you sure you have the latest tropicset version? There was a problem in an older version.

But that's not the error the older version would have; it would have been an (8/?). As much as this shouldn't help, the date and size on my version are 2005/02/13 10:05:54 and 136,378 bytes

Actually, IIRC the older tropicset had a few action 2 that were missing the final 00 in the W of the default cargo ID. So that message could be indeed be because of an old version.

I downloaded it yesterday from http://www.ttdpatch.net so I assume it's the latest version.

Thank you, that's the problem, somehow I had an version dated 22-09-2005. I downloaded it again and now it works.
That's weird, because this was on my notebook and I just bought it a month ago, so TTDX was never installed before. Could it be that in the big pack there is an old version of the tropicset?
Anyway, I can play my favorite climate again. :D Thanks for all the help.

allw.zip contains old files, hence the problem. You'll have a similar problem with the DBSet, if you chose to use it.

DaleStan wrote:Apparently, you didn't get the the GRF from the individual zip in the correct place. That's the old version, which is in allw.zip. Overwrite that file with the one in the individual zip file.
Maybe I just forgot to paste it in the newgrf dir along with the other graphics. Is the rest of the graphics in allw.zip also outdated or only the tropicset?

As I said, (after you quoted me) the DBSet is also outdated. There's a new version of George's LVs, but the one in allw.zip should work. I'm afraid I haven't kept track of exactly how exactly v3 and v3¾ interact.

I don't use the DBset, so I didn't notice it. The last time I installed TTDX, there wasn't a allw.zip and I assumed that it contained al the latest versions. The longvehicles all work, but I'll update them anyway. Next time I'll just install the seperate grf's again.

I was going to update it for 2.1, which was going to happen half a year ago...
