[OT] Yet more emailed spam

spamblockers to add the email address mailro...@oldeagle.com to your blocked
senders list.

It took me all of two minutes to find a mail harvester program on
http://www.supershareware.com Sadly this is what the net is coming to, and it
proudly announces its speed, reliabilty and accuracy of extraction of emails
from NG's.
Just shows the greedyness of some people.

And then it took me a minute to collect 29 email addresses. Surprisingly,
the email addresses I got were those of less frequent posters, but there
were exceptions. I seen Peter Dobrovka's, and a couple of others. I didn't
see any spam blocked ones, as the program says that "it is intelligent in
that it removes invalid email addresses"

Yup, that's why the only real way to combat spam is tough legislation,
everything else can't be more than a temporary measure.

There's the same problem with webpages. If you have your address on a
webpage, it's likely that you'll eventually get spammed because of this.
But fortunately there's a few ways around this, for example by "munging"
addresses, see for example
http://www.zip.com.au/~mfleming/antispam/webmung.html

Then there's the "web poison" or "wpoison" program, that dynamically
creates a page with bogus email addresses and links to itself, you can
try it out at for example
http://joesbox.penguinpowered.com/unint ... real/mail/
(which is my computer here). Unfortunately you can only use it when you
are the administrator of a web server.
