I'm not up to date, have Probs in Multiplayer

Post by Phillip Michael Jordan »

Hi
I just dug up TTDLX and started playing it again, also over an IPX Network.
Unforunately, the game tands to hang sometimes but in some games there is no
trouble.
Also I have problems with lorries getting stuck in front of a station. Up to
now, I've solved this by not making lorries/buses.
Aother Question:
Is there a Bugfix/Update availiable?
And, are there any great sites about TT? (if this is against the NG-Rules,
please mail me ;-)
Thanks, Phillip

Also I have problems with lorries getting stuck in front of a station.
When my lorries get stuck in TTO, I often tried to sort it out, changing
their destinations and suchlike, but this never worked. The answer seems to
be... just wait. After about 60 seconds, they sort themselves out. I don't
know if this has changed and got worse in TTDLX.

BTW, Does TTDLX really look very different to TTO? I played a demo with
somekinda Sugarlump scenery or something, and I wasn't impressed.

When fixing problems with lorry bunch-ups, try the following steps.

1. Change the destination to the nearest depot.
2. Click on vehicle turnaround.

This doesn't always work. Another method is to simply keep clicking on
vehicle turnaround until one goes bananas!
Hope this helps,

I think 60 seconds is a bit optomistic even in TTO. TTDLX is much the sam,
they will sort themselves out eventually, but you do have the option to make
vehicles turn round, which helps a lot.

TTDLX has four different climates: Temperate (as per TTO), sub-tropical,
sub-arctic and Toyland.

Nobody much likes the Toyland scenery, which must be what you saw. I only
use it if I fancy playing against the computer opponents - it's about all
their good for ;-)

Theres been a post here previously concerning the differences between TTO
and Deluxe, so I can re-post it if needs be.
Its not just graphical changes - a lot of aspects of the game has changed -
its not just TTO with World Editor!! In retrospect, after playing TTD, TTO
is ... well, URGH!!!!

Yes, this is, for want of a better phrase, a real bugger.

I try various things, one of which usually works eventually.

* Stop any incoming vehicles just before the station until it has
cleared. If a queue builds up, 'release' them in pairs until the queue
has gone. It's horrendously time consuming, but usually it will then
keep running OK for a while.

* Build more loading bays. If I am, for some strange reason, using
lorries to serve a factory, I will usually have a separate depot for
each cargo. (They don't have to be separated specifically (ie, there
could be two that both accept iron and grain, say), so long as all the
goods are collected from the same depot).

* Build a roundabout nearby so that vehicles can turn round without
having to go horrendously long distances.

Nah, Its easier to clear things like that in TTDLX (Wow I used its proper
name!) You can just use the 'Reverse turn' command (the little yellow
arrow). That gets rid of *most* of the problems, and you don't have to worry
about going out of order.

Or, yes you could wait, but the problems with that are if you have a few
more trucks/buses on thier way they will just compound it all.

ToyLand. Yep. I think its MUCH better (Not graphically) But the gameplay
(AI) seems to be better. And I much prefer playing in the Desert scenery.

BTW is it just my imagination or is Desert the easiest and Toyland the
hardest sceneries?

It's actually a lot better with TTDLX, cause if you open a window for all
the offending trucks buses etc, and press reverse on all them, they become
free again.

About the sugarlump scenary, this is the Toyland world. Just for fun, and I
hate it anyway. With TTDLX you get

3 new scenarys each with different types of industry
Ability to reverse by pressing a single button
The Stock Market
New trains called MagLevs
A faster bridge (tubular goes to 200)
One way signals
And loads of other minor things, like heliports

To me, it is a LOT better.
